Departments and such

kara...@gmail.com, Mon, 16 Feb 2009 21:55:42 -0800 (PST):

I'm going to also suggest the following, if it hasn't been suggested
before...

We create departments based upon curriculum, just like in a
university.  We start it out by re-designing the main page to create a
"navigation block" of sorts, where these departments are set inside,
and from there the reader can go to the desired space with ease.

Each of us would be assigned a department to over-see the operation;
from there we would delegate other members and editors as to what they
could do, what articles are needed, how they are written, and so on.

For starters, I propose these department titles:

Religion
Christianity (this must be kept separate from Religion)
Science
History
Art
Sports
Politics
Engineering

Science, for example, would have many "sub-departments" (for want of a
better word) within it, among them:
Biology
Zoology
Astronomy
Geography
Mathematics
Physics, etc

History would have...
Warfare
Ancient History
Modern History
Medieval History, etc

From the link on the main page, one would go to the main page for
Religion, which would be a specially-designed page introducing the
reader to the various aspects of religion, including the major world-
wide religions; pagan religions; ancient religions, etc.

We could screen new editors and find out what interests them, set them
within these departments, and perhaps we could cultivate them into
creating new articles (they would still be free to make edits to
others)

Any thoughts?

Brian, I think it is a great idea in principle, as it will a) allow
people to focus on their areas of expertise, and b) have a more
"centralised" control mechanism over the various branches within
Conservapedia, thus reducing overlap.

I think this is something we should investigate more thoroughly.

All right, I offer my services as "professor and chairman" of the
Department of Bible Study, and at least as "adjunct professor" in the
Departments of Astronomy/Cosmology and Creation Science.

Well...there's one!

Brian Macdonald <kara...@gmail.com>, Tue, 17 Feb 2009 12:47:02 -0600:

How about we create a flow chart or several, and decide what goes where.
Keep in mind that there will always be several articles and subjects that
will be shared between departments.

Ah, I did not realise we were already dibbing for departments. In that case,
I guess I should look at "Professor" of Language and Oriental Studies
sensei. Or anything, as long as it is not math-related!
