{cp-fab-five:1031} Menendez recall controversy

Temlakos <temla...@gmail.com>, Fri, 30 Apr 2010 19:41:23 -0400:

Gentlemen, I call your attention to this latest article of mine:

<http://www.examiner.com/x-34769-Essex-County-Elections-2010-Examiner~...>

Specifically, I call your attention to this statement by the press
secretary to Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ):

> It is brought by one faction of New Jersey's Tea Party that has called
> President Obama a Communist, and that runs a web site seeking to
> rewrite the Bible without a "liberal bias."

Senator Robert Menendez, who is trying to quash a move to call a recall
election with his name on it, has been habitually saying that the recall
committee is trying to undermine the US Constitution. But now his press
secretary is trying to implicate Conservapedia itself.

Now we all know that no member of the Committee to Recall Robert
Menendez from the Office of United States Senator has anything to do
with Conservapedia administration. Nevertheless, a United States Senate
press office has made the association.

Question: As a member of the press, what shall I say is the reaction of
any of you to this frankly incoherent rant? I have already made clear
that Conservapedia is a separate project from the recall committee and
predates the Tea Party Movement out of which the recall committee grew.

Typical liberal use of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals: Obfuscations and
confusion...if you throw enough mud, some of it will stick, perhaps enough
to tip the election.

Agreed. But I still would like an answer to my question: What sort of
statement, if any, shall I quote Andy or you or Conservative777 or
anyone else as making in regard to that statement?

I'm not just talking as a CP administrator. I'm talking as a member of
the press getting a statement in response to another statement that I
have reason to believe that you would find outrageous--and indeed put
into the "funny-were-it-not-so-sad" category.

FYI: the Committee to Recall Robert Menendez from the Office of United
States Senator is now embroiled in a heated debate on whether and how to
respond from their side.

My answer would be, and I think Andy's should be as well, is that the public
deserves better from the liberals....better than their typical scatter-gun
approach of using Rules for Radicals to tar and feather any and all people
associated with the recall effort, rather than focus on the reasons Menendez
needs to be recalled.  That is the reason the Tea Party Movement sprang to
life, the same tired political tactics rather than addressing the real
concerns of the people....

His incoherent rant is that of a man who is desperate to draw attention away
from his own problems by pointing the finger of blame at a perceived greater
problem, in this case the contents of a website run by one of his accusers.

It's the same thing as a cop pulling over a motorist for multiple traffic
violations, and having that motorist point his finger at anybody, demanding
the cop leave to investigate that man instead.
